Hello everyone! Welcome to Week 7. This blog post will discuss about the California Teach-Science and Mathematics Initiative or CalTeach-SMI and what they offer to STEM undergraduates who are interested in becoming a future science or math teacher in Calfornia. In general, this program provides students with an ability to go to middle and high schools to learn from current teachers at those respective schools; more specifically, CalTeach-SMI has four areas to engage in - pedagogical training, pre-service mentoring, networking, and financial support. The peer mentoring program in CalTeach-SMI allows for students to ask questions and learn more about the ins and outs of becoming a future STEM teachers.
