Two Months, One Destination, and an Experience to Remember

Dia Duit (Hello) ! Thank you for stopping by. My name is Gianhu Nguyen, and for the summer of 2019, I participated in the UCEAP Summer Physics Abroad Program at the University College Dublin. Through this opportunity, I was able to complete the entire Physics 002 series in the span of eight weeks and had the chance to explore the different treasures of the beautiful country of Ireland. COMBATING FOOD INSECURITY at UCR

With 62.5% of UCR students surveyed experience food insecurity and 42% of students surveyed UC-wide experience food insecurity, this situation is very real and affects more students than you may think! Despite the variance in the degree of food insecurity per individual or household, the limited access to nutritionally adequate food poses great risk and effect on an individual's well-being and academic performance. If you or if you know someone who is facing food insecurity, read on to learn about some resources on UCR campus, organized in an effort to reduce the magnitude and combat against food insecurity. If you are considering pursuing a STEM-focused teaching profession in K-12 education, being involved with the Science & Math Initiative (SMI) program is an opportunity to further explore your professional interest! With a mission to increase the number of highly qualified teachers in mathematics and science in California schools, SMI offers a wide range of resources and support to help aspiring teachers and educators to be well-prepared by the time they start their practice. Through the Peer Mentor Program and Pre-Teaching Career Advising services, you are able to gain insights into the teaching profession and learn about the different resources, as well as scholarship opportunities that could further academically and financially support your endeavors towards becoming a teacher and educator. Among the many services SMI provides is the test preparation for the different examinations students need to complete as part of the requirements on obtaining teaching credentials.
