CNAS Scholars Peer Mentor Job Opportunities




Have you completed the CNAS Scholars Learning Community and looking for opportunities to stay involved? Do you enjoy your NASC093 class or have ideas on how to improve it for freshmen in the years to come? Do you have a passion for mentorship and want to share the lessons you have gained as a CNAS student?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should consider applying to be a part of the CNAS Scholars Peer Mentor team! Keep reading to find out more about the opportunity and details of the mandatory workshop!

Depending on the position of the CNAS Scholars Peer Mentor team, responsibilities may slightly differ, but all of them involve the opportunity to strengthen your leadership skills and interpersonal skills.  Through the participation in presenting workshops and leading discussions for NASC093 first-year seminars, as well as one-on-one mentor meetings, you can voice your undergraduate experience and share your stories to better help first-year students navigate a new chapter of their academic journey.

Seize the opportunity to work with CNAS Academic Advisors and Coordinators, mentor fellow students within CNAS all the while further broadening your network and gaining a better understanding of the different resources and opportunities UCR has to offer! Applications for the academic year of 2020-2021 are due by Friday, February 7, 2020 at 4 pm. You can find the application here.

CNAS Scholars PERSIST Peer Mentors: 2
CNAS Scholars Fall Peer Mentors: 4
CNAS Scholars Peer Advisors: 5

First-Generation Resources

Highlanders, welcome back to the CNAS Scholars blog ! I hope midterm session has treated everyone well. In this week's edition of the blog, we will be discussing a very important series of programs known as First-Gen Initiatives and what resources are available to any undergraduate students interested.  The term "first-gen" describes a student who is first in their family to study in a four-year institution. Just by the name alone, the main goal of the First-Gen initiatives is to ensure first-generation students are able to engage and stay motivated in their journey towards student success. This includes different individualized programs, specialized campus support, and available student opportunities.
